啞巴沉香 Gaharu buaya

啞巴沉香（倣沉香、假沉香）瑞香科Aetoxylon屬樹種Gaharu buaya（在馬來西亞及印尼當地人的稱謂）。產區：西沙撈越（Sarawak)與加里曼丹(Kalimantan), 外觀與真沉香相似，會沉水，常用在雕刻和佛珠上。因價錢極低，在西沙撈越其出口的數量比Gaharu（真沉香）為多。沉香消費者、收藏者需當心留意。依據聯合國臨危野生國際公約目前認定沉香的來源為沉香屬與擬沉香屬的樹種。西沙撈越假沉香（啞巴沉香）點燃香氣不佳，但作手會將真沉香油塗抹在假沉香上在用烘熱或炊熱方法將沉香油浸入表層，如果消費者不察只削表皮外層用煎香器品香，或用點然法燃燒表層，將造成誤判甚之，莫成遺憾。市面所售佛珠很多是此種啞巴沉所假，外表很黑投之入水。 top
